In October 2016, looking for a place to host horror film reviews, a friend and I launched Wolfbane Blooms. Now, having surpassed 100k views, the site is home to more than 250 reviews, lists, quizzes, and interviews with industry professionals.
While red and black is a well-established color scheme for horror publications, the emphasis in branding and design tends to exploit the grungier aspects of the genre. Taking its name from an oft-repeated poem in 1941’s THE WOLF MAN, I wanted the branding and main logo for Wolfbane Blooms to retain the genre's familiar color palette in a cleaner and more timeless aesthetic that reflects the classic Universal monster films of the 1930s and '40s.
